An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly that made the world community smile. A representative from India began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about a rishi named Kashyapa of Kashmir (Kashyapa, son of Marichi, son of Brahma), after whom Kashmir is named. When he struck a rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath.' He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Pakistani had stolen them.' The Pakistani representative jumped up furiously and shouted, 'What are you talking about? The Pakistanis weren't there at that time.' The Indian representative smiled and said, 'And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech.'
A Small Story…
A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed.

The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.

That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.. This is applicable for any relationship like love, employer-employee relationship, friendship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully

Letter is from Banta Singh of Punjab to Mr. Bill Gates of Microsoft
Subject: Problems with my new computer

Dear Mr. Bill Gates,
We have bought a computer for our home and we have found some
problems, which I want to bring to your notice.

1. There is a button 'start' but there is no 'stop' button. We request you to check this.

2. We find there is 'Run' in the menu. One of my friends clicked 'run' he ran up to Amritsar ! So, we request you to change that to 'sit', so that we can click that by sitting.

3. One doubt is whether any 're-scooter' is available in system? I
find only 're-cycle', but I own a scooter at my home.

4. There is 'Find' button but it is not working properly. My wife lost the door key and we tried a lot trace the key with this ' find'
button, but was unable to trace. Please rectify this problem.

5. My child learnt 'Microsoft word' now he wants to learn 'Microsoft sentence', so when you will provide that?

6. I brought computer, CPU, mouse and keyboard, but there is only one icon which shows 'MY Computer': when you will provide the remaining items?

7. It is surprising that windows says 'MY Pictures' but there is not even a single photo of mine. So when will you keep my photo in that.
for xp

Some Useful Tips To Speed Up Ur Computer

Caution: Perform the below operations at your own risk. Consult someone if u r not sure what u r doing.

1) Remove Startup Items that are unwanted
You can do this by opening Run-->type msconfig and press enter
Open the startup tab... and uncheck the items that are not needed
This helps us to improve the startup speed.

2) Defragmentation
As time goes by, big files or even small files get splitted and saved in different memory locations in ur hard drive when u copy something to it. This is because Hard disk controllers choose random locations to store the files. If there are not enough free space to accomadate the file at a stretch, it puts a link and store the remaining part of the file in someother location. The effect of which is, it will cause the hard disk to read the same file from different locations which will cause increase in access time. The Windows OS provides us with a useful Utility called Disk Defragmenter which could be found at Programs --> accessories --> system tools. This utility picks up fragmented files and puts into continuous locations. Apart from this utility, there is another software called DiskLite, which does the same process.

3) Softwares
Have/Install softwares that you require. Try to reduce the number of softwares by having a software that gives most functions. For Eg, Media Player Classic or VLC media player plays most of the file formats, and may not require the codecs to be installed to play certain files. So it is better to install these softwares than to install a player for different formats and codec for reading those formats. It is recommended to have your softwares in the drive where there is Windows installed. (safety tip: Dont have your important documents or other files in your windows drive. In case of OS crash, it will be helpful to format the windows drive without loosing the important contents)

4) Registry
The more you install, the more the registry gets bigger. When ur registry keeps on building its size, it will increase the processing time. Use Registry mechanic to remove unwanted/broken registry entries.

5) Portable Softwares
There is a recent trend of using this kind of s/w. Portable S/W are that which can be taken to any place via USB or CD and can be used anywhere without actual installation of the s/w. So this will not add any files to windows directory or make an registry entry which occurs during installation of a s/w. But the drawback on these s/w may be that, it requires time for loading every time you start the s/w. So for bigger s/w portables are not advisable, whereas small portable s/w can be used.

6) Multiple Files
When moving many number of files, say for eg, while moving/copying a set of pictures collection, It takes huge time to copy/move. The reason is simple, more the number of files, more the access time of each file. So keeping the files zipped makes it a single file. Now moving/copying this zip file will consume way too less than actual. It is very helpful when moving contents from one place to another using USB.

7) Anti Virus
It is very much required to make your anti-virus to start at startup of windows and run throught out the session to safequard your system. But the choice of AV is important. The AV you use shouldnt slow down ur PC. So get a better and faster anti-virus like Nod32 or Kaspersky.

8) Keep Ur files and folders Organised
This is the most common tip. The better you know the system and where your files are present, the better you can traverse through your folders. Keep the right content at the right place.

9) Last but not least
Get more RAM memory and have a high speed processor with more internal cache memory :P (or even dual core or quad core processors and so on. These processors have multiple cores which process different programs in different cores)

Troubleshoot

Very often we face problems that u may or may not be able to troubleshoot. Here I will list down various ways to troubleshoot your system. All the ways may not be applicable to all the types of problems. It depends on what your problem is. So if u r not sure what to do with your problem make a reply here, so that myself or someone will be able to help you with your problem.

CAUTION: Perform the below operations at your own risk. Consult someone if u r not sure what u r doing.

1) CTRL+ALT+DEL
More often you require this three buttons. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL will open Task Manager. There you can end task the program which is slowing down your system. Sometimes end tasking the program in the application Tab may not work. In that times, its easier to end task a process in the process tab. When the explorer is not responding, you could end task the explorer and open a new task by file-->new task--> and typing explorer

2) Anti Virus and Anti Spywares
Some Problems to your system may be caused by Viruses and Spywares. Solutions is to have a good anti-virus software like Nod32, Kaspersky, Nortan Anti virus etc. Some antivirus may not be able to recognise or remove some spywares, in that case you may require a anti-spyware like spybot. When you installed the full version of the anti-virus or anti-spyware, update the definitions till date. Then scan the entire system for viruses and spywares.

3) Registry Cleaner
System may get slowed if many softwares are installed. Even if u uninstall softwares there may be some registry entries which will be present. It may even slow down your system. So it is always best to have softwares that will serve your purpose. Dont install too many which you dont need. You may use registry cleaning softwares like registry mechanic.

4) Safe Mode
Restart your computer, and press F8 continuously while booting till a menu appears. There will be a option Safe Mode. Safe mode is one where your system starts with limited resources and drivers. Some files which you cant delete in the normal mode will get deleted in the safe mode. But you cant have access to USB or CD drives in Safe mode.

5) System Restore
Some recent softwares you install may change some settings or may make changes that will cause your system to behave abnormally. In such cases you may do system restore to an earlier date. This will revert back all changes made after that date. To system restore, there must be a restore point created earlier.

6) Repair or Format and put the Operating System again:
Before proceeding in this step make sure that u have the drivers CD for your mother board. because once you install your OS, you will be required to install these drivers to make some of your hardwares like audio, LAN etc., fully functional

Most times this option helps a lot. It also clears our system and makes it new. There is nothing difficult to format a system and install a OS again. All that you need to do is insert a OS(windows) bootable CD and restart the system. When it boots up, give the option Boot From CD.

(FOR Windows XP)
It will ask you whether to repair or install. Repair will take you to command prompt. There you need to do the things manually.

Giving Install will take you to a screen which will ask you whether to repair or put OS freshly. Repair will install the OS over the existing one. Careful u might lose datas in the desktop and mydocuments.

If fresh installation is give it wil ask where to install the windows. Give the option (which Drive). If the drive already contains an OS, it will ask whether to add the new OS in the existing OS (highly not recommended) or to format the drive and then install (recommended). Format the drive and then follow the instructions to install the OS. When installing it will restart many times, at those times you should not give boot from CD. That option will start the process again from the beginning.

Once OS is installed, install the drivers required and the softwares u require.

7) RAM and BIOS battery Replacement
Sometimes your system may not boot up. If u hear 3 beeps when you switch on the system, the problem is due to RAM failure. Try to remove the RAM and insert someother RAM and start the system.

If ur system date keeps on resetting, It might be due to the BIOS battery has lost its life. BIOS battery is present in the motherboard. Buy one as the same type as the existing battery.
